Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
The use of mindfulness, and mindful techniques stems back centuries to Buddism and ancient Asian Philosophies. Jon Kabat-Zin, PhD. developed MBSR based on the belief that by being more aware of our thought processes, we can have greater control over our behaviors, experiences and cognitions. Mindfulness is believed to help clients restore a sense of well being and develop skills to avoid physical and emotional fatigue. MBSR is most commonly used in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders, Chronic Pain, PTSD and Sleep Disorders.
