Dr. Benbow is a Board Certified Physician and Surgeon, and a specialist in Psychiatry and the practice of Psychopharmacology. He received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University, Texas in 1984, and his M.D. from the University of Texas, Medical School in 1988. Dr. Benbow has been practicing psychiatric medicine for over 25 years, and is recognized as a renound and distinguished expert in the field of pharmacology. He is highly skilled in the treatment of all age groups, and a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Dr. Benbow has managed and directed multiple programs and residents in the past 10 years. Since 2006, Dr. Benbow has had the honor of serving Active Duty Service Members returning from current conflicts with PTSD and related Combat Operational issues. He is known as an expert is the treatment of these complex clinical presentations, as well as sleep disorders and clinical trials of sleep medication. Dr. Benbow espouses an integrated approach to treatment, utilizing specialists from all areas of clinical disciplines for maximum treatment outcome. Together with a diverse treatment team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Nurses, Dr. Benbow has developed and managed highly successful inpateint and outpatient Military Treatment Programs.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Benbow is a clinical instructor with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego and is is a prolific researcher, who is rigorous in his pursuit of randomized double-blind medication studies for the treatment of mental health issues. He is well published in this field, and has participated in the oversight and administration of over 100 such medication trials.
